Jude Middleton Best of Wedding Photography Title

Around this time of year, a popular thing to do is to post about your last year in photography.  However, as I have just launched this website, I had the opportunity to go through a few  years worth of work looking for hidden gems (my best wedding photography)… And, eureka! I found some which I really wanted to share. It was a lovely trip down memory lane for me, remembering some really great days and even better people.  Weddings are fun, emotional, magnificent and so significant to so many people.  I feel honoured whenever I am asked to record these most important of days.

Now, as this is my blog and I make the rules (what am I talking about, there are no rules…) I’m going to blog all my favourite images from the past, which includes a large chunk of 2014 and a few others here and there. They are mostly wedding, but some engagement and editorial shots have crept in as well. I’ve got quite a few, so I will do a few blogs like this and hope you really enjoy them.  And stay tuned for part two!

Jane and Russell’s Yorkshire Wedding

No one was more surprised than me to receive Jane’s phone call saying she wanted to discuss wedding photography, but what a pleasant surprise it was.  We had met a few weeks earlier at a wedding fair at Epsom Racecourse and got chatting.  She mentioned that she and Russell were getting married in Yorkshire and that she would probably ask a friend to cover the photography.  We talked about the pros and cons of this (I was very honest and not even after a sale as I figured they would go for a local photographer) and in the end, Jane and Russell agreed and so began our trip to Pockley, Yorkshire.  I was beyond excited, and with good reason. It turned out to be the most amazing wedding at a spectacular venue with so many stone houses, Yorkshire puddings, taxidermy, a little rain and views to die for.  I was channeling my inner Catherine Earnshaw…

Of course you know it takes a great effort to organise a wedding.  Helping Jane and Russell were these fabulous suppliers-

Sam and Ross 1

This image really does sum up Sam and Ross’s Gate Street Barn wedding – love and laughter.  These two were just so happy to be married that nothing else mattered.  Well, with the Gate Street crew and Kalm Kitchen looking after everything else, nothing else needs to matter.

The day started with the usual hair and make-up with the bride and bridesmaids expertly handling their own.  Then into the barn for the ceremony followed by a heartfelt blessing and our couple were married!  After some persistent rain during the preparations, we managed to get outside for some portraits before more rain, but that wasn’t really a problem as the barn has a fabulous porch we were able to take advantage of for the final group photos.  The rain then gave up for good and we had confetti!

Every wedding is the result of many suppliers lending their expertise to a couple to make their day perfect and this is no exception.  We had an amazing day here and we hope you enjoy the images.

Danielle and Will are truly citizens of the world.  They met in London while Will was visiting from Saudi Arabia (he’s Australian) and Danielle was studying away from her home in Canada.  They now live in London, but will be getting married in Arizona, USA.  They wanted a London Engagement Shoot to tell the story about where they live now, for their friends and family scattered all over the world.

We started by walking along the South Bank and taking in a few landmarks, then a quick cab to Chelsea Bridge with a view of Battersea Power Station.  We walked through the gorgeous Battersea Park and found some beautiful little spots to take some cute shots.  Then back to the Albert Bridge for the lights over the Thames.

It was such an enjoyable afternoon and we wish Danielle and Will all the best for their American Wedding.  We can’t wait to see the pics!

On a warm, spring day in May, Caroline and Robin were to be married at South Farm and Jude Middleton Photography was there to capture the day for them.  They wanted a simple, elegant, traditional and personal day, which is reflected in their images.    Our bride and groom chose white flowers (by Wildwood Florists), blue suits and red ties, with an elegant white cake (by The Cake House) adorned with flowers to decorate the farm, in keeping with their desire for simple elegance.  Caroline’s dress, a halter-neck by Pronovias, was the perfect choice.

The preparations were supervised by the most magnificent white peacock, along with other farm animals (little piggies and ducklings) because, of course, South Farm is a working farm and the weddings happen right in the middle of everything.  The ceremony took place in the old dairy, because it was a little rainy in the early part of the day.  The weather soon cleared, however, and drinks and portraits were enjoyed in the beautiful gardens. Afterwards, the party moved into the barn for dinner and the speeches and, of course, dancing into the night.Caroline and Robin South Farm Wedding Photography by Bea and Jude0066Caroline and Robin South Farm Wedding Photography by Bea and Jude0188

South Farm is an enchanting and distinctly different venue for romantic country weddingsThe beautiful old farmhouse of Tudor origins flanks a fine barnyard of three ancient listed timber framed barns, a granary, old dairy, hovels and stables, all lovingly restored, and home to their friendly rare breed farm animals. Idyllic gardens encircle the buildings giving way to a productive organic smallholding, a nature reserve and woodland, 30 acres in all. Contact them here for more information.

Alaine and Tim Pembroke Lodge Wedding Photography by Bea and Jude

Alaine and Tim’s Pembroke Lodge Wedding, Jude Middleton Photography

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with Alaine and Tim on their beautiful Pembroke Lodge wedding, in the height of daffodil season – what a treat.  The day started at Richmond Gate Hotel, for the bridal preparations (and a sneaky peek at the groom when he came to collect his car…) where everything went along so smoothly thanks to Alaine’s very helpful bridesmaids and her own meticulous planning.

We then popped practically over the road to Pembroke Lodge where we stayed for the whole day.  The ceremony was very moving and was followed by one of our favourite things, confetti down the aisle!  We went outside, where the weather was barely not raining, for some spring-themed portraits among the blossoms and daffodils and then back for dinner, speeches and dancing with the cutest musicians you’ll ever see.   The room was decorated so beautifully with blossoms, orchids and paper lanterns and then there was the cake… decorated with the most intricate and perfect sugar-art orchids you’ll see, to match Alaine’s bouquet.

All in all, a wonderful day with a very elegant bride and a handsome groom.  Enjoy the images…
