Clemmie and Mike East Wittering Elegant Fresh Contemporary Photography by Bea and Jude_001

Clemmie and Mike’s East Wittering Wedding, Jude Middleton Photography.

This wedding. Oh my goodness.  From Clemmie’s Ian Stuart dress to the tiny seagulls on the wedding cake, it was just perfect from start to finish.  We began at Clemmie’s parent’s house, where we would return for the reception and party in a fabulous marquee.  Bridal preparations ran very smoothly with loads of sunshine adding to the joy of the occasion (heavy rain had been forecast).  The gents got ready at a nearby hotel and we all met up at the 600 year old church in West Wittering.  After the ceremony (during which the rains did come, biblically so) Mike’s army colleagues were in full dress uniform and made a splendid guard of honour for the newly-weds to walk through, to waiting confetti.

After a brief stop by the ocean for a few romantic portraits, we returned to the cottage for more pictures (the canola field was a welcome surprise) the reception and dinner, followed by dancing.  The rain stayed away and everything was perfect.

When we started Clemmie and Mike’s Dorset Engagement Shoot, it was a sunny day with a blue skies and a little mist on the horizon.  By the time we had finished, we could barely see 50 metres ahead, the mist had rolled in so far and so fast! We went to Badbury Rings, an iron age site just outside Poole and headed straight into the wooded area to escape the bright sunlight, but soon found it wasn’t really necessary.  Once there, however we loved the mist in the woods (except for the cold!). Thank goodness for the blanket!

We are really looking forward to Clemmie and Mike’s wedding next month, in the Witterings, which will be as different as you can imagine from this woodland setting.  It’s going to be great. Please enjoy the images.

Would you like to arrange an engagement shoot with Jude?  Click on the contact button below and drop me a line.  I’d love to hear from you!

Here at Jude Middleton Photography, I offer an engagement shoot as standard with all of my packages.  I do this for one main reason, but there a lots of little bonuses that come along with your shoot.  The main reason for engagement shoots is to help get to know you, the couple.  On your wedding day, it can be very daunting to have someone there for upwards of 8 hours with a large camera pointing very often in your direction.  Meeting with me before and having this shoot simply makes you more comfortable, both with the camera and with me.  Although they take a small proportion of your day, your couple portraits at your wedding form a key part of your overall finished story and so anything I can do to help prepare you for them will always be an advantage as time can be quite limited on the day.

The main bonus of your engagement shoot is a beautiful set of images of you both to keep and do with as you please.  You can even use them at your wedding!  Some people will frame an image to be signed by guests, some will use them on their tables – still others will make a guest book with a few pictures. You also have some lovely art for your home and instant Christmas presents for your family!

We always go somewhere chosen by you (unless you really can’t decide, then I am happy to make suggestions).  This is part of what makes your shoot special as a stand alone event and a great story about the two of you. When you have your engagement shoot there are a few more things you can do to help make the most of it.  You can bring a few things along that mean something to the two of you – anything really – books, clothes, holiday souvenirs, whatever you want.  You should wear bright colours and a few layers so we can change your look a little throughout the shoot, but it’s most important that your clothes are comfortable. If they are not, it will show. Mostly, you need to be willing participants.  You may say, ‘But of course, why else would we be here?’, but what we mean is please be prepared to give just a little extra – find that beaming smile, tell that corny joke, show some public affection.  (To be honest, we’ve yet to find a couple that hasn’t done that, happily.)  We like most of our images to be natural and not ‘posed’ so much as ‘directed’, but if you put yourself in our hands and really show your true selves to us, we will give you some very special images and a couple of fun hours in the sunshine.

I’d love to do a creative engagement shoot for you.  Did you know that if you book me for an engagement shoot and then book me for your wedding, I will deduct any paid fees from your wedding total?  Drop me a line to find out more – it’d be great to hear about your plans.

2013 was a great year for me, working at Photography by Bea and Jude and I’d love to share with you our best wedding photography from the last 12 months.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be re-sharing some of our most popular posts from last year, but in the meantime you can take a stroll down memory lane with us as we remember the dresses, shoes, flowers, tuxedos, cakes, tears, smiles and unbridled joy of 12 months of true love.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone we have worked with in 2013 – it’s been wonderful and would not have been the same without you.  We wish you all the best for 2014 and keep your eyes peeled – we have some exciting developments coming up very soon.

Enjoy the images, we certainly had fun making them.

Are you getting married?  I’d love to hear about your wedding plans.  Get in touch below, but don’t delay.  Only a few dates remain. Jude x

There were so many beautiful features at George and Richard’s Monkey Island Wedding – the ceiling in their suite where George got ready, the lightbulbs strung above the footbridge accessing the island, the beautiful gardens full of rich, autumnal colours – it’s easy to see why they chose this lovely venue to get married.

Having the ceremony in a room seemingly suspended over the Thames, then drinks on the terrace (the rain stopped, yay!) allowed the guests to fully appreciate being on this tiny island on the Thames.  After a delicious meal and the speeches (the best man sang his to the tune of songs from ‘Oklahoma!’ – it was wonderful) it was on to the Ceilidh. We love weddings with ‘called’ dances.  It doesn’t matter if you can dance or not – the caller helps you through and generally speaking, everyone is equally as new to it.  They are always the most crowded dance floors! Finally, it was time for a great send off with fireworks and sparklers, to end a perfect day.

Please enjoy the images.

Sometimes a couple sees an image and they know straight away who they want to photograph their wedding.  I really love it when that happens to me – it’s the best feeling.  Mary-Fe and Chris are one such couple, who happened upon another Pembroke Lodge Wedding done earlier this year.  I loved their enthusiasm and couldn’t wait to work with them and see the lodge in autumn, as opposed to the spring wedding captured earlier.  Autumn is a beautiful time of year to shoot and the colours of Richmond Park do not disappoint. Of course, our day starts much earlier, with the Bride and Groom’s final preparations. Mary-Fe was helped into her Justin Alexander dress and Spanish-style veil by her mother and bridesmaids, while Chris had a relaxer at the pub before moving on to the church. After the lovely ceremony it was on to Pembroke Lodge, where the weather held for drinks and canapés on the terrace.  The room was styled with spanish fans for the ladies and cigars for the gents, complemented with vintage coloured roses to really match the autumnal hues outside. Please enjoy the images.

Contact me for your wedding photography via the button below.  I’d love to hear about your plans! Pembroke Lodge is a magnificent listed Georgian Mansion that has been lovingly restored to provide public tearooms and first class facilities for weddings. The Lodge is situated at the highest point in Richmond Park with spectacular views over the Thames Valley to the west. Richmond Park is the largest, and to many, the most beautiful Park in London as it comprises of 2300 acres of totally unspoilt classic English parkland with some 650 deer who roam freely in this tranquil setting. Pembroke Lodge is set within 11 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds which are planted all year round. Car parking for 250 vehicles is adjacent to the grounds.
